⁴ᴷ Hyogo: Takasago Station (兵庫県: 高砂駅) – Japan Walking Tour (March, 2025)
«Just like last month, I took the ferry from Yokosuka Port and arrived at Shin-Moji Port in Kitakyushu City. From there, I crossed the Kanmon Strait back to Honshu and began my journey along the Seto Inland Sea, heading toward Tokyo.
I’ve arrived in Hyogo Prefecture, and this time I visited Takasago City. Compared to neighboring municipalities, it’s a bit smaller in scale and might not be as well-known. However, among Hyogo residents, it’s recognized as a famous production area for *anago* (conger eel), especially the popular *yaki-anago* (grilled conger eel).
Takasago is also known from classical Japanese poetry as a famous *utamakura* (poetic place name), giving the town a strong sense of historical depth.
When I visited, it seemed that the spring festival was approaching. From various corners of this quiet town, I could hear the sounds of festival music being played. The way those lively sounds echoed through the stillness of the streets created a truly atmospheric and charming scene.
