Mt. Fuji Scenic Drive | Shimizu to Asagiri Kogen, Shizuoka, Japan

This drive takes you from Shimizu (Seishin Bypass Seikenji IC) to Asagiri Kogen via Shinfuji.
In the first half of the route, the vehicle travels toward Fuji City along Suruga Bay, which marks the boundary between the Philippine Sea Plate and the Eurasian Plate and is also the deepest bay in Japan, reaching a depth of 2,500 m)
When the vehicle turns left in the urban area of Fuji City, Mt. Fuji (3,776 m / 12,388 ft), the tallest mountain in Japan, is straight ahead.
As Fuji City lies along Suruga Bay, Mt. Fuji rises from sea level to its peak in this area.

In the latter half, we ascend to Asahigiri Kogen, a highland 800 – 1,000 m above sea level.
The road gradually becomes snowy as we climb.
