Tokyo Japan’s BEST Eats & Most Famous Sights! Asakusa, Koffee Mameya & Tokyo SkyTree
Our first full day in Japan was filled with delicious food and exploring some of Tokyo’s most famous areas. We started our day in Asakusa. Asakusa is home to Sensō-ji Temple, which is 1,380 years old. This area could be considered a foodie paradise due to the adjacent Nakamise-dori Street which dates back to the 17th century. Nakamise-dori Street is home to small shops and eateries that help to highlight the styles and flavors of Japan. One of the best ways to get a lay of the land in Asakusa is to head over to the Asakusa Culture Tourist Information Center. This building can be found across the street from Kaminarimon and houses a free observation deck, a cafe and offers up free paper maps.
Since the change in time zone had us feeling a bit off, we decided to book a visit to Koffee Mameya. Found 15 minutes outside Asakusa in Koto City, Japan, Koffee Mameya offers up a unique 2 hour Coffee tasting experience. They source the highest quality beans from differing regions around the world.
Finally, we ended our first day in Tokyo attempting to see the entire Tokyo Skyline at Tokyo SkyTree. This observation deck is the tallest structure in Japan and is currently recognized as the third tallest structure in the world. It’s two observation areas provide sweeping views of Mount Fuji, Tokyo Tower and the entirety of Tokyo City.
Even though we were exhausted, this day truly was one of the most memorable of our lives. Experiencing the rich culture, delicious cuisine and beautiful experiences offered in Japan changed our perspectives on the world around us. We feel incredibly privileged for the opportunity to experience this culture and we hope this video provides either helpful facts, entertainment or just our unique perspective of this beautiful country.

Amazing! I am absolutely living vicariously through you guys. My wonderful husband is Japanese and was stationed there when he was an enlisted Marine. I will stick to the Japan pavilion at Epcot 😊 Thanks for sharing this experience with us ❤ I can't wait to see Tokyo Sea! 🌊
Wow. Just wow. Japan has never really been a place I considered traveling to. To be fair-not a fan of flying lol. This being said. Wow. Seeing it through your eyes is so fun. The sweet potato creme brúllé is so my jam (is that even a cool saying now…says the Gen X?). I know you are the "Theme Park Foodies"…but I would watch your channel if you travelled just about anywhere. Questions… would you recommend the airport hotel for anyone doing a short stay in Tokyo? How did you choose where you would go/highlights? I could see the coffee experience being a highlight. Did you prepare for the trip by learning Japanese history? Ok you really don't need to answer all of these! Once again. Thank you so much for sharing.
My name is Craig Dennis how are you both doing today and me and my mom are doing fine and my dad is feeling much better very day and let you both know and you both have a nice week and you both take care👍👍👍👍👍
great vlog x
Can't wait to watch this episode later when we are both home from work. We are excited to watch all these upcoming Japan videos! Keep up the great work you two!
That is amazing city 👏 Tokyo is the best place to be 😊😊
How are the food there?😊😊😊
Very enjoyable vlog!
Really enjoyed this video. Glad you are having a good time and letting us live vicariously through you.
That melon bread looked amazing, it's so fun to come along with your adventures in Japan.
Everything looked so yummy! We have done Daifuku here by getting some pre packaged mochi, slicing it in half and sticking in the strawberry! I'm so glad that Klook came in handy for y'all! Makes me happy you tried a menchi katzu! A little oniony but so flavorful. Ugh, I had wanted to add the sweet potato creme brûlée for our trip last time and forgot about it. Yum! Excited to see Tokyo Disney through your eyes. Also love these types of videos. You should def record your trips.
Thanks Sam. Now I have to take Melinda to Japan for coffee 😂
Wonderful vlog, the koffee experience looked so fun and unique. So much beauty there ❤
Looks like you’re having fun !
💚
Wow! This is an awesome series. I live in Toronto Canada and know from first hand experience that the time change is a killer to get used to. We were up at 4 am EVERY day and half asleep by 6 pm. Best thing about Japanese is the people. They are kind, considerate and giving in so many ways.
Hi Sam and Jay!
We are traveling vicariously through your videos, thank you so much for bringing us along!
We crème brûlée Japanese sweet potato looked absolutely delicious 😋
We are looking forward to watching the rest of the Japan series 🤗🤗
New subscriber here! I went to Japan about 5 years ago. So overwhelming but such a fun trip!
Great food recommendations we will definitely try when we go and maybe the Coffee 2 hours experience too!! Apparently even if you don’t speak Japanese 🇯🇵 you know 10% of the words already think karaoke sushi etc and they adapt alot of English words
How cool you are in Japan! I love the Fortune reading thing! The Temples are beautiful!! Thank you so much!
Totally awesome Thank you guys ❤❤❤❤
I read through the some of the comments before watching your video, and I thought, Wow, people are really liking this, and then I watched it myself and…
OMG…
This was INCREDIBLE!!!
I don’t know how many times to hit the “thumbs up” icon, or how to recommend this video to the top of YouTube playlists, but I am absolutely amazed by the Food, the Tower, the “Koffee” (my favorite), the first 3 seconds of you two looking so well rested, and that Melon bread…mmmmm…
You two are right up there with Samantha Brown (a popular PBS TV travel/food personality), and of course the famous Anthony Bourdain. I would watch you everyday if the Travel/Food channel hired you.
💕 Loved every second of this and I can see why others are saying they can’t wait for more S&J Adventures!
Well, hope you have a Happy Birthday, Sam.And for being up thirty hours you look beautiful thank you
❤❤❤❤
