Thank you, gentlemen! My best friend in Japan grew up on Sado Island and went to university in Niigata city. He now works in Tokyo and lives in Chiba prefecture. The next time I get to Japan, hopefully soon, we have no excuse to make a trip to Niigata. 🙏👏😁
I love your videos so much! Been a subscriber since ~2017 and in tough times and good times they always make me happy. Tank you!🧡 (From Anna)
Niigata sake is famous for 淡麗辛口 – tanrei karakuchi – taste which is a light, elegant and dry style that many people including myself love.
OMG!! Another super awesome video from you guys. I'm really enjoying these videos lately. Hope you both are doing well mentally and physically. Stay warm. ❤
Niigata–hugely under-rated city for Japanese cuisine. Some of the best rice and nihonshu (sake) come from just south of the city, particularly around Nagaoka.
Looks like a great place to visit. 🪣 📝 😄
The more videos that I watch of yours, Shinichi, Satoshi, the more I hope I'll have the good fortune to get to visit Japan as it has wound up at the top of my list of places, and countries I hope to visit and experience someday.
I really enjoyed your video! I lived in a town 45 minutes south of Niigata City 25 years ago. It was neat to see you exploring Niigata, and seeing you explore Furomachi and how things have changed. I am glad that you were able to try Sasadango enjoy many of the rice dishes. I used to get sasadango often as a snack waiting for my trains. I also would get Yuki ichigo daifuku, a strawberry cream cake surrounded by mochi. I also found it delightful that you went for curry in the bus terminal. There used to be a stand there that sold the best potato koroke and a milk vending machine that sold milk in glass bottles. Surprisingly, besides koshihikari, my town also was known for its milk. If you come back to Niigata in summer, I would also recommend going to Teradomari and eating grilled saba on the beach. I'm glad you enjoyed Niigata and hope you do another video on its food. 😊
Are you sure that wasn't freezing rain instead of snow? We get alot of slushy snow all the time in Michigan. Love ya guys be safe in the weather
I had planned to go last weekend (went to Fukuoka instead). Glad I postponed because I am taking notes from your videos now. This will help me plan my trip.
Love your videos so amazing the adventure. Aloha from Pheonix Arizona.
Love the atmosphere of this video❤the snow is like a great master, everything can reborn again under her white mantle, after the frost 🤍
We have street lanterns like that here in Amsterdam. Also on the canal where I live although not the really elaborate one you showed, but a single lantern. It looks very nice in the dark, when they are lit.
Niigata looks like an interesting city and probably not so touristic as the other cities you mentioned. It's so nice to see it through your eyes.
For some reason I am aware of the term Bandai, but I have no reason why. I've known it from my early childhood, when I was still living in Australia. It probably stuck with me because it's a fun word to pronounce. 😄
Anyway, nice video guys!
I’m looking for a good sake in the US. I live in Illinois and can shop at Binnys. Do you have some tips for me? Thanks if you can help.
I haven't watched your videos in a while. I think I know why as I watch this upload. The spark is gone. Maybe you didn't plan it well or perhaps that is the style you want now, but it looks scrappy. I blame the editing because I do hope your production has not been detracted.
I wish I had access to a market like where you had breakfast. I would go crazy! Yum!
The good thing about sleet-covered sidewalks is that warm food taste sooo much better when you are cold and wet. Loved this trip, thanks for bringing us along!
Maps shows 3.5 hours for Tokyo to Niigata by Joetsu. Am I missing something or was this a mistake?
And now I want to come to Niigata. Just like that. You are good at recommending places!
