So wanted to have a crack at food that I had seen or had in Japan (my first ever trip to Japan.. Wildly amazing and definitely not my last). Had my brother come around to my place. I did a cook up of stuff. So first I did some de constructed chicken. The wings, the wing tips and drums sticks on the Webber over the coals.. with a tare sauce.. Insanely good. ( for the wing tips and drum sticks). For the wings I tossed them in furikake (which I thought would be awesome and it was).
Next I did a chicken gizzards and heart skewers. Once again with tare basted on them as I felt it would go well. Soo soo good.
The last part… Was like a bringing together on stuff I had worked on. So a "rice bowl" of sushi rice (recipe I found here – on point), pickled ginger (I did myself 3 days ago), a tacky ramen egg (ajitsuke tamago), slices of saddle tail snapper (cooked over the coals for 2 min each side), flying fish roe, nori sheets and pickled saddle tail snapper fillets I had done (1 day of pickling – first salted for half day then washed – then pickled in a mirin vinegar mix for half day:. Proper incredible. The egg needs more work to be honest. I boiled 6.5 min but it wasn't as tacky as I'd like. So I'll try better but the rest was soo soo good
Just a bit of a share. I gotta get back to Japan. I love food really. And I want to try so much more. 😂 It's now a obsession.. I feel it 😂
