Welcome back to Kyoto and episode 6 of this Japan adventure! Hunting out the best food in each city has been a highlight so far, but if we’re honest – all Japanese food is good so you really can’t go wrong! When it comes to Kyoto though, there is some debate about how to find the best food… and a controversial one is the Nishiki Markets.

The Nishiki Markets are five blocks of food, smells and shops! There’s over 130 restaurants and food stalls, so it’s like all the best street food in Kyoto got crammed into one long laneway. The obvious positive is the chance to try lots of food in a small area. The negative? It’s reportedly over priced, touristy and a bit watered down.
