Japan’s MOST AMAZING travel destination? (Walking Tour of Koyasan, Wakayama Prefecture)

Koyasan or Mount Koya is a wonderful destination, particularly in autumn. It is a Shingon Buddhist site where the faithful can meditate in peace in the middle of the mountains. It was founded by Kukai or Kobo Daishi, who then entered into an eternal meditation in this place in 835. The place can be reached for a day trip from Osaka, although the journey can take two hours. Not to be missed is the Okunoin Cemetery, the Kongobu-ji Head Temple, and the beautiful Kondo (Main Hall) and Konpon Daito (Grand Central Pagoda).
