⁴ᴷ Ehime: Matsuyama City Station (愛媛県: 松山市駅) – Japan Walking Tour (January, 2025)

I’ve resumed my tour of various cities in Shikoku, which I had to abandon last December. I took a ferry straight from Tokyo to Tokushima, then traveled through Kōchi Prefecture and arrived in Ehime Prefecture.

Separate from JR Matsuyama Station is Matsuyama City Station, where Iyo Railway lines converge. Extending east from there is an arcade shopping street called Matsuyama Gintengai. Around this time of day, you see many people heading back toward the station after work. Moving on, there’s the Ōkaidō shopping street, which has a slightly different atmosphere, along with the surrounding bar district. It’s Friday, so quite a few people are out drinking. There also seem to be a lot of “free information centers” around this town.
