JAPAN AIRLINES B787-8 JL127 Class J (Domestic Business Class) – Tokyo (HND) To Osaka (ITM) (4K)

This is the 2nd flight out of 4 in lieu of firstly a cancelled Seoul to Helsinki flight, then a cancelled Osaka to Helsinki flight.

What should have originally been a 13-14hrs flight (ICN-HEL then KIX-HEL) will end up taking the best part of 38 hours. When I arrived at my hotel in Helsinki, it was almost exactly 40 hours from when I checked out of my hotel in Seoul.

This flight was only booked the evening before for JPY 16,880 (Economy was only JPY 1,200 less) so for a little added comfort, a very easy choice.

Japan Airlines call this Class J, which most airlines refer to as Business Class. The seats are more like International Premium Economy, or the seats that are used by Qantas, American, Alaska etc in there Business/First cabins.

Only drinks are provided, no meals.

The flight was slightly delayed leaving Haneda, meaning arrival was a little late, which was no problem as I had approximately 6 hours to get from Osaka Itami to Osaka Kansai and the next flight in this adventure to Bangkok.

Once at Osaka Itami, it was a quick ride on a Limousine Bus to Osaka Namba (City) then an express train to Osaka Kansai.

As explained at the end of this video, due to the Osaka to Bangkok flight leaving at 1am and arriving at 6am I did not video that flight (tried to get some rest) so the next video in this adventure will be Bangkok to Helsinki with Finnair, where I finally get to my destination…

  1. Thank you for another awesome video!
How lucky you had extra shoulder room with nobody next to you! I absolutely love the convenience stores and how neatly everything is packaged. Haha I never got tired of the friendly wave from the ground staff as you push back! We usually train between Tokyo and Osaka, next time I’ll fly JAL just to experience the J class. Was that Caramel pop corn?
