Kyoto Hidden Gems: Day Trip to Kurama-dera Temple & Kifune Shrine

Kyoto is infamous for its crowds, but the city itself is so huge that there are so many hidden gems. One example is the Kurama-dera Temple, located in the mountains of the north, that is known to be the lair of tengu as well as an important center of Buddhist and Shinto spiritualism. We also visited the Kifune Shrine, although this one has been discovered by tourists, but once you step out of Kibune, you’ll find pure nature with a relaxing and crystal-clear river. We ended the day by going to the Shimogami Shrine, which was also pleasant to visit without the crowds.
