Explore 12 Japanese Ski Resorts with the Ultimate Powder Ski: Vector Glide Genius

Do You Know the Super Fat Ski, Vector Glide Genius?

Fat skis have become a staple in the skiing world, and almost every brand now offers their version. Among them, the Vector Glide Genius stands out as one of the fattest, measuring 155mm-130mm-140mm.

On fresh powder and ungroomed slopes, this ski guarantees unmatched speed and effortless turns. However, you might think, “Isn’t this ski only useful in rare conditions, like right after a powder dump? Isn’t it just for Niseko or other spots in Hokkaido?”

That’s what I thought too—until I got my hands on a pair. To my surprise, they’ve become my go-to skis in a wide range of conditions. Based in Tokyo, I usually ski in Niigata and Nagano, and even at Hakuba during the New Year or at Yuzawa in mid-winter, the Genius proved itself time and time again.

Before I knew it, I had skied at 12 different resorts with the Vector Glide Genius. Beyond the resorts featured in the video, I’ve also used them at places like Hakkoda and Geto.

If you’re considering fat skis and wondering if they’re worth it, I hope this video gives you some valuable insights.
