HOW TO GET TO ABASHIRI

You can fly from Tokyo (Haneda or Narita) to Memanbetsu Airport and then take a bus to downtown Abashiri or use your hotel’s shuttle service to reach your accommodation directly.

Alternatively, if you’re in Sapporo, you can travel to Abashiri by JR Okhotsk Limited Express trains or by bus, with options such as Hokkaido Chuo Bus or Abashiri Bus.

ADDITIONAL TIPS:

1. Most hotels on this list are situated in the suburban areas of Abashiri, which can make public transportation access challenging. However, the majority, if not all, offer shuttle services from Abashiri Station and even Memanbetsu Airport. Be sure to reserve your spot in advance to secure a seat.

2. Rental cars are a convenient way to explore Abashiri and its surrounding areas. However, during winter, you must exercise extreme caution due to harsh weather conditions and heavy snowfall.

3. It is highly recommended to book a room with breakfast when staying in Abashiri. Although the town has some restaurants, very few open in the morning, making the hotel’s breakfast a convenient and reliable option.

If you choose to stay outside the town, consider booking a half-board plan to ensure a more comfortable and hassle-free stay.

4. As with many other destinations in Japan, most public onsens do not permit tattoos. If you wish to enjoy a hot spring experience, it’s best to book accommodations that offer private onsens for a more comfortable and relaxing soak.

Our Criteria for the list:

– Facilities must be sufficient for guests to stay with comfort.
– No cleanliness or service issues
