Exploring Japan’s Tohoku Region (Northern Japan): Top 14 Autumn Destinations 🍁

[ENG] #Tohoku #JapanTravel #HiddenGem

Join me on an unforgettable journey through Japan’s breathtaking *Tohoku region* , located in the northeast of Honshu, Japan’s largest island. 🍂 Known for its stunning natural landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and vibrant seasonal colours, Tohoku is the perfect destination for an autumn getaway. From vibrant red maple leaves (Momiji) to serene mountain temples, this trip offers a perfect blend of nature, culture, and tranquillity.

🗾 *What is Tohoku?*
Tohoku (東北) translates to “northeast” in Japanese, highlighting its location in the northeastern part of Honshu. It consists of six prefectures: Aomori (青森県), Iwate (岩手県), Miyagi (宮城県), Akita (秋田県), Yamagata (山形県), and Fukushima (福島県). This region is famous for its picturesque landscapes, historic temples, and warm hospitality. Its relatively untouched nature makes it a hidden gem for travellers looking to experience Japan’s quieter and more serene side.

This is my first time experiencing autumn in Japan, and it has been nothing short of magical. Each destination showcased the region’s incredible beauty and unique charm.
