Tokyo offers volunteer guided tours, this one free for visiting Asakusa – one of 16 routes from GoTokyo site. Two English speaking guides can take up to 5 people. Some routes have a minimal charge like tea ceremony but I found this to be an incredible opportunity for all travelers to Tokyo, in multiple other languages – the volunteer guides are a fun & informational gateway to Japanese culture, history, local knowledge and sometimes your first friend in Japan! I learned a lot I didn’t know about my city even after 25 years of living here!
