日本のポンペイ、橋牟礼川遺跡についての特別展。
大正13年に、国の史跡に指定されてから、100年の記念展。
当時、中学生だった折田成健さんが、不思議な土器だと集め、学校の先生に見せます。
瀬之口先生は不思議に思い、京大の先生に見せ、発掘が始まりました。
そこで、縄文土器は火山灰の下、弥生土器（実は古墳土器）が上にあり、
それまで部族の違いだと思われてきた土器の違いが、時代の違いだと分かりました。そこからこの遺跡の貴重さが上がり、大正に国の史跡に認定されました。
そこから更に発掘が広がり、火山灰の下に生活感がそのままの遺跡も見つかり、更に平安時代の火山灰下の遺跡もみつかり、日本の先史時代のポンペイと有名になりました。
噴火した記録、時代がはっきりしてくることで、その下の遺物の年代もはっきりし、まさに地層が年表となり、時代考証に約にたちました。
しかし、現在、紫コラの下から出てきた土器がどう調べても50年から100年古い事が分かってきました。
つまり、874年の噴火で埋まった家の中の物がもっと古い時代だったのです。
コレは紫コラが実は874年の噴火の火山灰ではないのか、それとも、遺物がそもそも古い物を使っていたのか…
分かったら分かったでまた謎がでてきました。
だから、日本の歴史は面白い！！

A special exhibition on Japan’s Pompeii, the Hashimuregawa ruins.
This is a commemorative exhibition marking 100 years since the site was designated a national historic site in 1924.
At the time, Orita Seiken, who was a junior high school student at the time, collected the pottery, thinking it was mysterious, and showed it to his teacher at school.
Professor Senokuchi was intrigued and showed it to a professor from Kyoto University, and the excavation began.
So, Jomon pottery is under the volcanic ash, and Yayoi pottery (actually tumulus pottery) is on top.
The differences in pottery, which had previously been thought to be due to differences in tribes, were discovered to be due to differences in eras. This increased the value of the site, and it was designated a national historic site in the Taisho era.
Excavations expanded from there, and ruins with signs of life still intact were discovered beneath the volcanic ash, and even ruins from the Heian period were discovered beneath the volcanic ash, leading to the site becoming known as Japan’s prehistoric Pompeii.
As the records and times of the eruptions became clearer, the ages of the artifacts underneath also became clearer, and the rock layers became a chronology, which was useful for historical research.
However, we now know that no matter how we examine the pottery that has been uncovered beneath the purple collage, it is between 50 and 100 years old.
This means that the items inside the house buried in the 874 eruption were from a much older period.
Is this purple collage actually volcanic ash from the eruption of 874, or is the relic actually an old one?
Every time I understood something, another mystery arose.
That’s why Japanese history is so interesting!!
