Japan Trip: Hokkaido Prefecture – Sapporo & Otaru

This was a relatively short visit to the Hokkaido prefecture. The weather in Hokkaido is awesome in September. Sapporo and Otaru are great cities and offer a lot.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for tagging along on my 2nd visit to Japan. It’s a long way from San Francisco and it’s definitely worth it.

My first destination was the city of Sapporo in Hokkaido prefecture. By the time I got there, it was almost 10 pm.

Thanks to Google and kind locals, I managed to get to my hotel before midnight.

Odori park is where I’ll be visiting today. At one end, the TV Tower is a big attraction and in front of it, you have a park that goes on for as far as eyes can see. Sapporo’s famous Snow Festival also takes place here.

You can easily spend a full day in this park.

I’m heading to Sapporo Breweries and I chose the scenic route. I’m fascinated by the design of the water dissipating cement blocks in Japan. It seems every city has its own unique design.

Sapporo Breweries has enough events and venues to fill out a full day.

I decided to take a tour of a sleepy little beach town, called Otaru. The Steam Clock, Sakaimachi hondori street, its canal and Mount Tengu are some of the attractions here.
