Mine’s are Mizca, Meisa Kuroki, and SNoW.

Mizca – her music was fun. I was into that electropop tunes alike Perfume and Capsule, and she fits right in to my playlist. Sad she disappeared after the first album. I think she tried to redebut using another name but I don’t know if that went anywhere.

Meisa Kuroki – mind you, I only know her as the singer, and not as actress or the lady who were once married to Akanishi Jin. Her music was alike Namie Amuro with the dance tunes and the confident vibe. I think last I heard of her was the digital single Frenemy, and then no more.

SNoW – she was my gloomy/emo era. All of her songs are just perfect, with the music and the lyrics. I know she still releases some digital single once in a while, but aside from that, I don’t think she’s gonna be as big as she was before.

Honourable mentions: Rurutia and Milky Bunny. The former might still be making music occasionally, but I haven’t heard about the latter.

Awww Melisa Kuroki. I wonder why she stopped making music? I wonder if it’s because she got married without permission?

God, I thought that first picture was Hamasaki Ayumi on the cover of Rock n Roll Circus for a hot second.

Edit to add: the more I compare the photos, the more I’m convinced that it’s literally the exact same hat

For Mizca, she debuted under her name Masami Mitsuoka and then became Mizca and went back to her original name for a few releases

  4. Ooh I was just listening to SNoW last week! Her album is incredibly well produced.

Melody. was an upcoming jpop girl from back when I was a teenager (2004 maybe?). I think she retired?.
Her music was very Britney/ r&b pop inspired.

Mink was also another singer I was very into back in 2007-2008. I don’t think she ever got a hit single or anything. Great voice.

I was a huge fan of ***Heartsdales.*** They were contemporaries of the J-RnB community that popped up around 2000-2004 (like HalCali, Twentyfourseven, Mihimaru GT) and basically both members faded / retired to some degree after 2010.

They were produced by ***SOUL’d OUT*** (One of my favorite TotC Hip Hop groups, alongside m-flo) who also dissolved when DIGGY-MO decided to go Solo. Incidentally they were huge fans of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure and contributed the song VOODOO KINGDOM to a dropped Adaptation of one of the parts.

It was funny how they played up American Stereotypes (since they actually WERE from NY) so **Rum** was into that ‘Mary J Blidge / Ashanti / Brandy’ style while **Jewels** leaned into the ‘Paris Hilton/Britney Spears’ analogue. Very Pink. Very Stylish. Hip Hop – RnB – JPOP fusion and aesthetics. Super cheesy. Sometimes cringe in a fun way.

Their music popped up in a lot of Anime AMVs too, so that’s nostalgic.

Also shout out to **SOULHEAD** for being one of the most memorable J-RnB stars from that same time. I listened to a lot of their music on the regular, next to May J, Hinoi Team, BoA and Koda Kumi.
