Bosnia and Herzegovina has some of the best food in the Balkans, so we started off our Bosnian food tour with the national dish, the Bosnian Pot. Next, no Balkan food tour is complete without burek. Our Bosnian food tour in Sarajevo had to include trying the #1 best burek in the Balkans. This burek is cooked in the traditional way under the sač, making it the best burek you can taste.

We continued on our Balkan food tour tasting local Bosnian coffee, traditional dishes, and finishing it off with some incredibly flavoured and delicious rakija. The rakija in Sarajevo is so tasty and yummy, and when it’s homemade, it’s even better.

We hope you enjoy our Bosnian food tour in Sarajevo, tasting the #1 best burek in the Balkans. The food here in Bosnia and Herzegovina makes for one epic Balkan food tour. Stay tuned next week for more food adventures!

  1. Wow! You're in a new country!
Not going to lie, I didn't think much of Bosnia before seeing your video, I didn't have much knowledge about The country. But Sarajevo looks absolutely stunning! And the food! The stew looked so comforting, I'd like that right about now as I look out and see the snow outside…
The cooking underneath the sacs looks so cool and interesting, what a way to cook. Did they used to use those in the past because they didn't have any other way of cooking their food?
The Bosnian coffee seems eerily similar to a Turkish coffee. I enjoyed the Turkish one when I tried it, but to be honest, I wasn't a huge fan of the grittiness of it. Kind of tasted like an instant coffee.
And the rakia, those all looked super tasty and smooth. Definitely would love to have some of those over the holidays 😋☃️
Great video again you two hungry travelers!

Zbogom!

  3. Great video! I am enjoying watching your travels to all these countries I've never even thought about! The food looks delicious!!

  4. The most spiciest meals in Balkans are in Serbia, Bosnia, Macedonia, as they say souther=hotter (maybe because of Ottoman and Austro-Hungarians historical cultural borderline)…northern of Sava and Danube are mild spiced meals (except Hungary where they use alot of paprika)…dunno about greek, albanian and bulgarian, never ate their meals…

  5. LOL You both seem a little tipsy at the end and Steph, your face at the end with all the flavours of the rakija in your mouth for the big swallow is so funny. All the food look so hearty. And the burek seem so yummy! Thanks for the great video you guys.

  6. Great video! It's always fascinating to see behind the scenes in the kitchens of these iconic Sarajevo spots. You captured the essence of Bosnian cuisine perfectly—well done! 👏

  7. A departure from the norm to start with something other than burek – I was glad to see that you guys still had it! 😂
