    in america these style of butter cookies are often sold as "danish butter cookies" and come with sugar crystals on top. in this and other countries, it's very popular to keep these tins to store sewing supplies, like scissors, ribbons, buttons, thread, pins, etc. theres an ongoing joke about findin the tins and wehther there'd be cookies or sewing inside.
