My biggest fear is making the wrong mistake with food as it’s difficult to read the signs outside

been to Japan 4 times . the only thing that really scared me was girls coming up to me in Shinjuku/kabukicho while walking . they be offering some shady things in exchange for money and these were really pretty girls as well which made it scary ! . pretty girls never come up to me where i am from haha
Been to Japan for 4 weeks over the last year. Didn't have a single earthquake alert or experience. No illness- Japan is credibly clean, and food is very clean. Crime- I haven't heard of any scam experienced by a traveller I've met there, I haven't felt ripped off or witnessed crime even once. Radiation- I didn't go to the area, I've only travelled around Tokyo/Fuji/Kyoto/Osaka. Wild animals- only ones I saw was some of the most well behaved monkeys in Kyoto, very polite Deer in Nara. We wandered along the old Tokkaido road in Hakone- signs warned us of bears but no sightings. Japan is one of the most wonderful countries I've ever travelled to- can't recommend it enough. Language- download google translate, download the Japanese language on there, point, learn to say please & hello & sorry & thank you. Visiting from London, I can say Japans trains are some of the easiest to navigate- dont miss the last one!
Was on the 14th floor taking a nap and was abruptly woken up by a mild quake. 😂
Be extra careful with deer in Nara. I saw a guy once who didn't bow properly and they set his house on fire in revenge.
We had a mild earthquake when I visited Tokyo in the spring this year. The next morning everyone was asking if I felt it. I didn't even notice in my hotel! 😂😂
Shinjuku is enormous but I wasn't ever worried. I did find the metro stations sometimes tricky to get out of quickly if I was new to it. Shibuya station was fine. In the end I memorised the kanji for exit 出口
I walked up and down trying to find exits or entrances at many places. 2 that stuck in my mind were Shibuya Sky, I couldn't find the lift to the reception easily. And when I came to leave, I went down the wrong escalators looking for food, but then couldn't find the fastest way out. Also Skytree when I came out the metro station, (Oshiage) it wasn't clear which was the best route to take even though, I could see it.
I think Japan just needs to brush up on its direction sign game a bit for touristy stuff. 😁😁 Restaurants and other things were fine with Google Maps
Getting lost is one of the fun parts of travel! Consider it an adventure
