Catch it. Then eat it 🐙

“Day 2 in Japan: The Great Squid Caper! We hit up Hakodate port, where Jill, our resident squid whisperer, did some deep research (or maybe just a quick Google) to find out where the real action was at – the morning squid market. We hustled over in a taxi like we were on a mission from the cephalopod gods because apparently, there’s only so much squid to go around.

Smart thinking, because while we were baiting our hooks, the Quantum of the Seas crowd was still queuing like they were waiting for the last lifeboat. Good thing we dodged that line or we’d be squidless, and let me tell you, there’s nothing quite like the thrill of catching your own breakfast that’s still trying to escape.

With time to kill, we hopped on a tram that looked like it was built during the Edo period for a scenic journey up to Mt. Hakodate. The view from the skytram? Spectacular, unless you’re scared of heights, then it’s just spectacularly terrifying.

To round off the squid-tacular day, we hit the Red Brick market. Who needs souvenirs when you have squid? Oh, and ice cream. We probably saw more ice cream shops than actual shops. Ice cream was definitely the theme of the day, right after the squid.
