This is what you could get buying a Japanese Ryokan Hotel . For 33,000,000 Japanese Yen about 210,000 USD you can own this Ryokan, a traditional Japanese inn in Aichi Prefecture. The building offers a generous floor area of about 300 square meters 32,000 square feet on around 255-square-meters of land. Its a two-story wooden structure built in 1932 which has maintained its original architectural charm through two careful renovations offering 7 guest rooms as well as many usable supplies for the ryokan business. Apparently in Japan, it’d difficult to find great conditioned ryokan’s on the market, so let me know what you think about this one condition in the comments.     Love this type of content PAOLO!! This is so interesting. Its nice to be able to live vicariously and see stuff like this through your eyes.

    As nice as that place is I wouldnt touch it. 200k and thats without all the extensive paperwork and other fees. I cant see a foreigner going in on that unless theyre willing to invest atleast 1 million USD (renovations) and have another million USD for the ongoing operating costs. 2 million USD minimum for anyone serious about something that remote.

    I feel like they should just sell it to the city that theyre in and have them turn it into a non profit community center or a co-op where several small businesses can exist in using the space. Its got alot of renovations done already so its definitely a promising venture, but if it was that amazing to begin with why arent other japanese folks knocking on his door to snap it up? Looks can be deceiving…

    Redo the roof an structure, plumbing an electrical, then redo the kitchen in 1930s style . Limit freezers an coolers. Go with more traditional space in kitchen keep key elements of the kitchen , dont change 😉 the interior , just make sure bathrooms an wash rooms saunas are leak checked an solid . Keep the 90 percent of the style an craftsmanship. Just fix an or restore . Its stunning . Landscape is a must . Traditional.

    I don't know the real estate market in Japan, but that price seems pretty cheap for the amount of square footage you're getting. I'd buy that in a heart beat and turn it into my home.

    It feels like it lacks toilets for me. Especially if you have got a full house.

    Are Ryokans cheaper than normal hotels in Japan?

    I would prefer my own toilet.

    But if it were cheaper like a hostel then it is reasonable.

    I mean if my brother chipped in I could buy it. But, sadly I don’t see myself leaving the U.S as much as I love Japan it’s a little too much. I like smoking weed to relax and relieve pain since a lot of stuff upset my stomach and I have chronic jaw pain. I even heard they don’t got strong ibuprofen over there I’d die from pain in the winter and summer 😭

    But man it’s so damn tempting. Saw house going for 40k over there. Makes me wanna cry in jealousy 😢
