🇯🇵 FUKUOKA, JAPAN – Today we head to Ainoshima, one of Japan’s many CAT islands! This one is located off the coast of Fukuoka, a port city on the west coast of Japan on the island of Kyushu… and it’s not just me, I go there with a Fukuoka local, Miyako! (who is also one of my English students!).
Islands such as Ainoshima are basically fishing villages, populated by a small amount of locals… and a huge amount of cats! Cats were usually introduced to the island to control the rodent population and have obviously reproduced as they are feral cats which are not neutered. Most of them only live 3-5 years due to the wild conditions they are in, vying for the attention of potential mates and scavenging for food.
It was great to meet up with Miyako – meeting up with a local is priceless!
