Off the Beaten Track in Japan: Unzen Hells 🌋♨️ Highlight of the Trip! 💖 Nagasaki, Kyushu

Best day of the Japan trip! A otherworldly day trip to an active volcano, with pools of boiling water and steam vents in the ground.

Mount Unzen is an active volcano in Nagasaki prefecture in Kyushu. We went on a day trip from Kumamoto, on public transport via bus and the Ocean Arrow ferry. We also went to Shimabara in the same day, which is known as the City of Swimming Carp (that’s in another video!). Unzen Onsen is a beautiful small town on the mountain, with a hell field of hot springs (known as the Unzen Jigoku), where steam rises from the ground. We had lunch in a small cafe, walked up to an observation point and explored the small Japanese mountain town. It’s definitely off the beaten track! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
