Trains in Japan: At Nagano Station
A visit to the Japanese/ narrow gauge part of Nagano station, where JR East, JR Central & the Shinano Railway services arrive and depart. The JR East Shinkansen station is directly adjacent and unusually situated at ground level.
Trains captured included the “Joyful Train” “Rokumon”, with a special family car and restaurant cars serving Bento Box lunches.

1258 hrs: Shinano 7, 1000hrs ex Nagoya arrives with JR Central 383 series 6 car set A7
1300 hrs: Shinano 14 departs for Nagoya with 383 series sets A201 (2 car) & A4 (6 car)
1305 hrs: Shinano Railway’s SR1 set S101 departs for Togura
1310 hrs: Shinano Railway SR1 series set S305 arrives empty cars from the yard
1310 hrs: JR East series E127 set A7 departs for Matsumoto
1316 hrs: Shinano Railway SR1 series set S305 departs with a service to Myoko Kogen
1335 hrs: Special Rokumon tour train departs for Karuizawa with 115 series set S8. this train was one of the many projects of Japanese industrial designer Eiji Mitooka.
1345 hrs: Shinano Railway 115 series set S3 departs for Karuizawa
1352 hrs: Shinano Railway SR1 set S306 arrives from Karuizawa with the 1210hrs local service
1359 hrs: Shinano 9, 1100hrs ex Nagoya with 383 series sets A2 & A203
1400 hrs: Shinano 16 departs for Nagoya with 383 series set A7
1410 hrs: JR East Series E127 set A9 departs for Matsumoto
