Hello, it's fine if you like to watch Music Videos and stuff but at the end of the day what matters is the music but i noticed many times in Youtube videos talking about why people don't like jpop and 100% have moved to Kpop or Articles, they always talk about the visuals and supposedly having better quality and better story , even though I do watch Kpop stuff stuff( The groups and songs that are the trendy ones that people with all the dancing and stuff) and sure if you like that kind of dancing and that kind of non stop fast changes in camera and sets and trendy fashion, go a head. But just because a video is more simplistic and looks more like regular daily life , what matters is the music.
To many of us that's what matters. I don't really care always to be looking at idols in fancy clothes in fancy make up and in multiple locations-sets, with a lot of tuning in color. In fact, many other countries don't care either and they have simple real life music videos, just about like getting together with family having a barbeque.
And they have great story telling at the same time by the way.
Here's an article
https://chromaticdreamers.com/lisa-vs-lisa-the-differences-between-jpop-and-kpop/
And although he says he likes jpop, you can clearly tell he is saying jpop is weird and lame VS kpop is hot and High quality.
For example he compares Atarashii gakko videos and how they just boring in a school playground while G-IDLE have high production high quality Sets and multiple outfit changes and an actual Story. Yeah, why doesn't he choose other jpop songs that are story based. There's tons of videos with stories and encouring messages.
Like this author assumes everyone likes the same( fancy people who all look like Models and wear tons of make up and Video that is 4K or whatever) and he says all this stuff about how jpop is low quality this and low quality this. Has he ever actually heard the music? Instead of just focusing on fashion and video quality( and by the way more doesn't always mean better ):
As you can see, Kpop tends to use multiple fancy looking sets. They will also create a set for each member to be highlighted. Some MV require renting out locations like airports or expensive halls and venues. A music video may include 3+ costume changes for each idol, some of which are brand name, and they may have fancy props like cars or a billboard. They may also destroy these things in the video.
There’s also post production, which will include additional graphics and effects and ensuring everything ties together perfectly with the music. They don’t play over there….but this is also why it takes idols a very long time to put money in their own pockets.
As much as one may feel this is shallow or not that important, people like high quality stuff. Would you rather watch a dark video in 380p or a high quality one in 4K? Do you just want to see people dancing in a school yard, or you want an actual storyline with epic sets and graphics? A lot of people would choose the latter.
At the end of the day what are we hear for, it's the music not any of this props and fashions and weather we destroyed cars, and have explosions and burning stuff in the background. Or changing to created sets every few seconds. What's wrong with shooting in nature or a simple street.
ALthough even jpop does have some of that, but for my self i really don't care about having Epic stuff. Why have all this epic stuff for a 2 minute music video, and they just swap every few seconds. Including the constant camera movements and changes. I guess if you don't have much attention span, you prefer that but either way whatever you like it's your choice but these people talking down on Jpop( making excuses on things that don't matter) and how it's low shitty quality just cause it's not using all these Epic sets and trendy fashions, just want to spread the idea
that simple stuff is lame. Or that whenever there's some interesting creative thing in jpop is automatically weird, meanwhile they have plenty of weird stuff in kpop like demonic statues and sometimes cars flying like without gravity and some fictional sets that look so unrealistic like they didn't put much effort into doing it but that's never seen as weird.
Why that's never seen as weird? I've been wondering. Whenever a kpop mv comes out and has weird things in it, everyone says it's a masterpiece.
Also by the way that Article i mentioned mentions LiSA vs LISA and has exactly an example of the difference in the Epic sets and all this fancy fashion that really don't matter but. As you can see the japan LiSA is all in a beach and she's just wearing a simple dress and there's none of those constant fast changing camera shots and camera movements like in the LISA video with multiple Epic sets.
For me the LISA with all these sets and dancing and rapping doesn't give me any emotions. Cause i care about the music and the message.
LiSA Simplistic Set But about the Music ( like to Homura video in beach)

LISA, using Epic sets, lots of Fashion and movement and Focus on Visuals of the Idol( Link to LALISA video)

Many of our friends on the other sides seem to not like Jpop or Jmusic( the music or the music videos) because jpop uses kind of more simple , real life stuff, and not all this trendy fashion( Unless they are groups created by Kpop companies like &Team, J01 and XG). LIke think Aiko, Kenshi Yonezu in some of his songs like Kanariya, Many of the animated videos that are just about life by Yorushika, Aimer, etc.
