GCash In Japan! Best Travel Card For FOREX? Better Than Credit Cards???
People have been raving about the GCash Card as the best travel card for abroad! I’ve been curious so I’m finally putting it to the test in my recent trip to Fukuoka, Japan in October 2024. Why would a card be the best for travel? Well it’s been claimed that the GCash Card gives you the highest foreign exchange for your peso to the country where you are travelling to. No need to queue in banks or Foreign Exchange counters showing documents, only to be given a steep exchange rate! Moreso, no need to change back your money once you leave the country: everything is anyway in your GCash wallet as Pesos. But isn’t that what we use credit cards for? Well yes, and that’s what I’m testing in this video. I’m putting my BPI Credit Card and BDO Credit Card go head-to-head with the GCash Card to see which one presents the best currency exchange rate! Is the GCash Card still better than these time-tested credit cards? I’m using all three cards during my entire trip to Fukuoka but for the purpose of the experiment in this video, I’m using all three in one day in October 8 when I arrived so that I can have a fair comparison amongst the three. As a bonus, I am also testing another GCash payment option: paying through Alipay through the GCash app for stores that don’t accept cards. But Japan is still not completely cashless so you would still need some cash – – – so I am also testing whether currency exchange or ATM withdrawals would be more advantageous.
