Both the restaurant and cafe are located in Uji, Kyoto. Kokoro serves a range of chicken dishes and I got the “Keihan” chicken rice lunch set for 1400 yen which included a radish salad and yakitori. I mixed the soup into the rice for a “chazuke” style meal.
Nakamura Tokichi is one of Kyoto’s oldest and most famous tea vendors. In addition to their flagship store in Uji (Honten), they also operate a separate cafe nearby (Byodo-in). I got the assorted matcha jelly, mochi and ice cream set with cold brewed sencha for 1380 yen.
The only thing I didn’t enjoy about both places: the long lines.
