Sapporo is an underrated gem of a city in Japan
It’s pretty much expected that everyone’s itinerary on the first trip to Japan is Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka. If you’re itching to go back and wondering where else you can go, then we 100% recommend Sapporo! On the northern island of Hokkaido, it’s completely separated from the mainland and has a cooler climate. Besides tourism, Hokkaido relies heavily on agriculture, especially in the form of dairy, corn, and potatoes, which influences their cuisine. It’s also the home of Ainu, the ethnic minority group indigenous to Japan, so there are plenty of cultural spots to visit where you can learn about a different side of the country, and maybe even try the cuisine!
