Traditional Koguryo dances are performed at the shrine’s annual festival, creating an international atmosphere. Furthermore, it is also known as Shusse Shrine.
The establishment of Koma Shrine dates back to 716. At that time, the Yamato Imperial Court created “Koma County” by having 1,799 immigrants from Goguryeo who lived in seven countries including Shizuoka, Yamanashi, and Kanagawa move to the Hidaka City area of Saitama Prefecture. Koma Wakamitsu was appointed as the head of the county, and after his death, the citizens of the county built Koma Shrine with Wakamitsu as their guardian deity in honor of his achievements.
A shogun’s marker is also installed in the precincts. The surrounding area is also full of seasonal attractions such as Kinchakuda Manjushaka Park and Shoten-in Temple.
