Only 24 hours in Osaka? 5 must-do experiences in Japan’s vibrant city 🌟🇯🇵

My 1-day itinerary for Osaka, Japan (I went in April 2023, end of the cherry blossom season)

Start the day early, so there’s less crowds!

🛥️Okawa River Sakura Cruise – only open during cherry blossom season, but a good other option is the Tombori River cruise to see Dotonburi from a different vantage point!
– Cost: FREE (if you have the Amazing Osaka 1-day pass), otherwise 1200 yen (~$8 USD)
– Time: 20minutes (allocate 1h to get there, wait, etc)

🎏Kurumon Ichiba Market – fresh seafood/super lively young crowd. I had amazing Uni and lobster here. I waited out the heavier rain here since it is fully covered!
– Cost: FREE (unless you want to purchase food)
– Time: 2-3h

🏙️🌇Dotonburi/Namba – probably the most touristy area in Osaka- full of great restaurants and bars, experience it in the daytime and in the lively night!
– Hozenji– a small Buddhist temple in the middle of busy alleys with a moss-covered statue of the deity Fudomyoo. I was lucky enough to spot a cat here (good luck in Japanese culture)
– Cost: FREE
– Time: half-day

🏯Osaka castle – one of the iconic things to do in Osaka Japan. I wasn’t able to see Himeji castle in my itinerary, but would have opted to see either of the two. This wasn’t super easy to get to since you have to walk to the middle, but it was cool to get to know some history! If you want to read and learn, start from the top down
– Cost: FREE (with the 1-day pass), otherwise 600 yen.
– Time: 2h

🍹Bar Nayuta – hands down my FAVORITE bar in Japan – they don’t have a set menu and it’s quite small so you’ll likely have to wait. But they make drinks to whatever flavor/liquor you tell them. Super intimate vibes!
– Cost: $10-15 USD/drink
– Time: depending on you (and the wait!), 1-3h
