There’s so much going on in Japan this autumn/fall! This week the Nintendo Museum opens in Uji, it’s the 60th anniversary of the shinkansen, and there’s a new sightseeing train in West Japan called the Hana Akari. There are also anime and manga exhibitions, kawaii pop-up theme cafes (including Halloween afternoon teas!), a new ninja show in Shinjuku, a new experience for thrill- seekers in Osaka called Tsutenkaku Tower Dive and Walk, cute capybara yuzu baths, the autumn leaves forecast, news about the TeamLab Planets expansion and a new TeamLab attraction at a rice terrace in Ibaraki, and a mysterious fox wedding night-time event at Yutoku Inari Shrine in Kyushu. Plus much more! You’re never stuck for things to do in Tokyo or anywhere in Japan, especially not this autumn.

  1. The UK is introducing an ETA in April. Unfortunately, I'm flying to Tokyo via the UK in April.

  2. Aww you didn't mention the Tokyo Ghoul exhibition in tokyo. Is it because you were unaware or did you choose to omit it for a certain reason?

  3. Been looking forward to this video! Was looking into the Izu zoo the other day, we’re only there for 2 nights at a Ryokan and lots we’d like to do as well as relax in the onsen but the idea of seeing the capybara and feeding apples to the red panda (apparently their favourite food) does seem super cute! And yes I can attest to Kyoto indeed being busy in autumn leaf season, glad we saw it last year and you can find peaceful spots but Arashiyama and Kyo Mizudera areas were both… a lot!

  4. hmmm,… December is coming soon … so many performances of Beethoven's 9th Symphony, especially in Suntory Hall. I already have tickets but want to go to Tokyo Takarazuka too.

  5. Thank you again for the updates!! I'm planning to visit this coming November. I still have the old currency on hand. Can I still use the old currency since Japan just released the new currency? Do I need to exchange it for new ones and where should I go to have it exchange? Thanks!!
