The photo doesn’t do it justice at all, it is HUGE. It’s one of the worlds largest wooden structures. It was built around 750(!), suffered a large fire and was rebuilt around 1705. It was originally 88m long, built was shortened to just 57m during the rebuild.
It’s impressive in this day and age. The fact that it was ~30% larger when it was built *over a thousand years ago* is crazy to me. I can’t imagine what people back then must have felt when they first laid eyes on it.

It was one of the most breathtaking things I’ve ever seen. Hard to believe that every detail was crafted by human hands. It really stirred feelings of awe to be there taking it all in.
