Established in 1906 by Inada Gensou, the temple is located mountains of Kure City and is surrounded by 35 statues of Buddha. Gensou designed and made 13 of the Buddha statues. The temple is surrounded by a bamboo forest and maple trees and has fresh spring water.
Gensou studied and trained all around Japan, and later selected this area to establish his temple. He trained further at the cave of the area, only eating roots and shoots of trees for three years.
The 6m-tall Acalanatha is looking down on Kure Port holding a sharp sword and a special rope called kensaku. It is the largest statue in the temple. The Acalanatha was planned on being part of a larger statue, becoming the great statue of Vairocana’s womb. Gensou unfortunately passed away before her could finish construction, and only its huge left hand and left foot were made.
