I went to Odawara Castle in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. Please enjoy it as a virtual walk. Since it is famous in history, such as Toyotomi Hideyoshi’s conquest of Hojo, I would like to see it restored a little more. I think it would cost too much money to restore it to the level of Himeji Castle or Kumamoto Castle.
Odawara Castle was built during the Sengoku period as the headquarters of the Gohojo clan, the rulers of the Kanto region. In particular, during the Odawara Conquest in 1590, Toyotomi Hideyoshi’s large army of approximately 230,000 soldiers besieged this castle, and the Hojo clan was destroyed after more than 100 days of battle. At this time, Odawara Castle boasted an outer wall with a total length of 9 kilometers, and the entire castle town functioned as a fortress. In later generations, a portion of it was removed by Tokugawa Ieyasu, but its magnificent remains can still be seen today.
