Sorry mates: Don`t know were my additional text went. So here we go again:
Went to japan last year and totally fell in love with it. To make its short: Bought some dark brown paste at a store near Himeji castle (Takata-no-baba) that tasted delicious on hot rice etc. Unfortunately I can`t find something similar here in germany. To try some online shops or search for recipes: Does anyone know how this paste is called? Further information ist also welcome 🙂

This is a local delicacy in Kobe.
They sell it online, but apparently only in Japan.

Looks like “garden variety” chili paste to me.
