We tried some of the most famous seafood and desserts in Hakodate, and here’s where to go and where to skip:

❌ Skip:
⏭️ Uni from 📍Uni Murakami Hokkaido Main Store: This restaurant is famous for their uni, and usually has a line. We got uni rice bowl, uni tempura, and uni tamago. We don’t recommend the tempura and tamago because the delicate uni flavor and texture gets lost. The rice bowl was ok, but it’s just uni on plain rice and the portion is small. Go if you want the experience, but not worth the high prices in our opinion.

✅ Get:
🍦 Soft Serve Ice Cream at 📍Petite Merveille: Hakodate is famous for its milk products especially ice cream, and this is one of the best flavor combinations we’ve tried yet! The pumpkin milk soft serve is a delicious blend of rich milk and sweet smooth Japanese pumpkin.

🍣 Conveyor Belt Sushi at 📍Shunka Sushi: We’ve had conveyor belt sushi over 10 times in Japan, and this is one of our favorites for the freshness, availability of seasonal and local seafood, quality, and price to value ratio. Highly recommend coming here!
