Some made the top 50 bars in the WORLD. And truly, the experiences and niche drinks are divine. The Japanese truly know how to make a good cocktail!
Tokyo:
– SG Club (#36 on the Top 50 Best Bars): we did a walk in on a weekday and it was a short wait, but think we got lucky. Reservations available! Try the pisco sour w/ Parmesan or Tom yum drink if feeling adventurous
– Bar Benfiddich (#37 on Top 50): harder to get into bc it’s smaller! Try to book with your hotel ahead of time
Kyoto:
– Bee’s Knees and L’escamoteur: both walk-ins, super close to one another so you can do both in a night! Some drinks at L’escamoteur come with a fancy magic trick, but we loved Bee’s Knees
Osaka:
– Bar Nayuta: no menu, small 20-person bar, but super creative and worth the wait!! I’m preferential because I met my now boyfriend in line here! Recommendation is to tell them a flavor and spirit you’re craving and they come out with some great drinks (such as cinnamon + cardamom + gin!). They do smoke in here though, so maybe not for those who are sensitive to smoke
