Tsubojiri Station, located in Miyoshi City, Tokushima Prefecture, is an unmanned station. It is also a station where railroad switchbacks (Zig-zag) are performed, which is rare in the Shikoku region. Right next to that unusual station is a beautiful waterfall.
This waterfall was artificially created when the Tsubojiri Station was built in 1929. If you watch this video carefully, you can see the water flowing through the tunnels made by human hands. The river originally flowed where the station is now located, but the river was reclaimed to build the station. Instead, they constructed a concrete wall and changed the flow of the river. It is a man-made waterfall, but a very beautiful place.
