In 2019 I did the same route to Atami, it took a bit over 4 hours, amazing trip anyway, the shinkansen are very comfortable

Last year I did hakata station to Tokyo station, hate pooping on the Shinkansen.

Even the non-super express is fine. Not really that bad. I’ve done Tokyo to Osaka and the view of My. Fuji is really amazing. Even if you think something like “I have to take a train on my trip” it’s well worth the experience.
