In today’s vlog, I leave Matsumoto and head to Nagano for an exciting day filled with local culture, delicious food, and the vibrant Obon Festival at Zenkoji Temple! I hopped on a local JR train and enjoyed a scenic 1.5-hour ride to Nagano.

Exploring Zenkoji Temple:
Zenkoji is one of Japan’s most important and popular temples, just 2 km from my hostel. I peacefully walked around the temple grounds before discovering an exciting surprise—the Obon Festival!
Obon is a special time in Japan when locals honor their ancestors, and at Zenkoji, they celebrate with the famous Bon Odori dance. I even joined in and danced my heart out! 🎶💃

Attending the Obon Festival:
The festival started at 5 pm with traditional ceremonies and dancing, and I had the chance to learn the Bon Odori dance with the locals. The energy and spirit were contagious, and it was an unforgettable experience!
