今回のフォトリウムは、福島県の奥会津を東西に貫く只見線と、
その沿線の「霧幻峡」をご紹介します。

訪れたのは夏真っ盛りの８月・・・日中との温度差で、朝・夕には川霧が立ちやすい時期です。

只見線は、新潟県の小出駅と福島県の会津若松駅を結んでいます。
2011年の新潟・福島豪雨により会津川口駅から只見駅間が不通となりましたが、
再開を望む多くの声を受け2022年に11年ぶりに全線開通されました。

小さなデーゼルカーが只見川沿いの深い緑や川霧の中を進む景観は、
鉄道ファンはもちろんのこと、一度は訪れてみたい絶景の秘境路線として有名です。
今回は只見線撮影ポイントの中でも一番人気の第一橋梁を望むポイントと、
無人駅の早戸駅を狙ってみました。

朝の一番列車は第一橋梁から・・・数日狙ってみましたが、
今回は川を覆いつくすような霧は発生しませんでした。
にわか仕立ての鉄道カメラマンには、「またいらっしゃい！」と
いうことなのかもしれません。
それでも、深い峡谷をトコトコ走る列車には
日本の原風景を感じさせてくれる充分な感動がありました。

次に、霧幻峡の渡しがある早戸駅周辺へ・・・
滞在中は渡し船の運行はありませんでしたが、
日が傾きかけてくると、どこからともなく霧が発生してきました。
水面に漂う霧は幻想的で、まさに「霧幻峡」と呼ぶような景色が出迎えてくれました。
夏セミが鳴く中、静かに変化する霧の流れを見ていると時間が経つのはあっという間。
気がつくとあたりは暗くなり、車のライトが目立つような時間帯になっていました。

早戸駅19時26分・・・川霧が漂う中、会津行きの最終電車を見送り、
汽笛の音を聞き終え、機材をしまい、撮影を終えたのでした。

We visited in August, the height of summer…when the difference in temperature between daytime and nighttime makes it easy for river fog to form in the morning and evening.

The Tadami Line connects Koide Station in Niigata Prefecture to Aizuwakamatsu Station in Fukushima Prefecture.

The scenery of small diesel cars going through the deep greenery and river mist along the Tadami River is a sight to behold,
It is famous not only among railroad fans but also as an unexplored line with a magnificent view that one should visit at least once.
This time, I visited two of the most popular Tadami Line photo spots, one overlooking the No. 1 Bridge and the other overlooking the Hayato Station, which is unmanned,
Hayato Station, an unmanned station.

The first train in the morning comes from the No.1 bridge… I tried to shoot it for several days,
This time, there was no fog covering the river.
To the newbie tailor-made train photographer, “Welcome back! but this time there was no fog to cover the river.
I guess it means “Come again!
Still, the train running through the deep canyon
I was impressed enough to feel the original landscape of Japan.

Next, we went to the Hayato Station area where the ferry of the Kirigenkyo River is located…
Although the ferry was not in operation during our stay, we were able to enjoy the view of the river from the station,
As the sun began to set, fog began to appear out of nowhere.
The fog drifting on the surface of the water was fantastic, and we were greeted with a view that could truly be called “Foggy Gorge.
Time flew by as we watched the quietly changing mist flow amidst the chirping of summer cicadas.
Before I knew it, it was getting dark and the lights of cars were becoming more noticeable.

At 19:26 at Hayato Station, we saw off the last train to Aizu amidst the river mist,
After hearing the sound of the train whistle, I put away my equipment and finished shooting.
