Someone gifted me these Japanese bowls but I don't know what they are called or used for. Would they be appropriate for drinking rice wine?

I’ve seen these used for the tempura dipping sauce.

The dish is called a tonsui. You most commonly see them used for the dipping sauce for tempura, as the other poster said, and for sharing out of a nabe–the little wing acts as a handle, so you can easily hold the bowl with one hand while fishing out food from the hot pot with the other.
