ll pick questions that have good impact for the community. Many people are thinking the same thing and it’s fun to push the ball forward and help.

  1. Thanks for leaving me a question! Get specific – I'll screenshot it so maybe spell check too 🙂 I'll pick ones that have a wide impact and sometimes ones that are just interesting and good. Often see questions or travel concerns I've never even thought about! Really appreciate it. -John

  2. Im coming in a week. I will be visiting kobe and then nirth near sendai. Where can I get crab legs??? What do you suggest for 2 days in Sendai area?

  3. Hi John, something completely different. Recently you made documentary about " How to buy an Akiya house " This documentary is published on the Akiya Bank website the English version, Have a great weekend. Greetings to Kanae and Leo. 🙏🙏✌✌ Mata Ne.

  4. Ok! Im going to travel to Japan 2 weeks with my wife and two children. About 5 and 8 years. Where should I travel? And also, what time is best considering weather and also as few international and domestic tourism? Cheers from Sweden!

  5. John a subject if not covered may be about the punctuality of trains. If your ticket says 6:32 am and a train comes on the track at 6:28 am, it is NOT your train!!!!

Also, we must pay attention to your rail car on your ticket. If you are using the Japan rail pass on a JR train without a reservation it is possible you end up on a car that will split away from the direction you are going. My husband and I once got on the train to Ofuna. A few stops before Ofuna the train split and we ended up going away from Ofuna! So we got off the train at the next stop and got on another train to Ofuna.

  6. Hello John! I am going to go study abroad to Japan for 6 months and was thinking about getting sim card, but I can't decide which one is good. Do you have any recommendations, if any cheap or best connection speed option?

  7. My friends and I are traveling to Japan to go to a concert in Saitama Super Arena in end of November 2024! Anything I should know about getting there, where to eat b4 the concert, and getting home late to my Tokyo hotel? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

  8. Perhaps you can have tips for securing concert tickets in Japan. It seems very different for foreigners.

  9. Is it weird to visit Japan just for a relaxing/chill time? A light shopping time, a light site seeing session, some gym time, then some onsen time, maybe just doing one or two things a day? 😅

Reason of saying that is because I see everyone is planning & packing their schedule very full while visiting Japan 😅 am I the only (weird) one that thinking the opposite?

By the way, is there gym in hotels in Japan?😅

  10. Hi John, I am traveling to Japan (my first time) next week for 4 weeks (Hiroshima -> Osaka -> Kyoto -> Tokyo). My question is how to differentiate between tourist trap places (especially street food and restaurants) and 'good/normal' ones?

  11. How are things the for handicap people like for wheelchairs, canes ,walkers that kind of stuff

  12. Rapid fire questions from someone who is visiting for the first time in November:

How much Japanese is enough(please, thank you, excuse me, where is blank, light Japanese for ordering food, etc)?
Are there specific places where we will need to know more Japanese?
Is it better to make restaurant reservations or just go with what looks good when walking by?
Are Instagram foodie places at all worth it with those wild large portions?
What traps to look out for when coming for the first time?
Best time to wake up early to beat the crowds, or is it inevitable at this point?
How to know what places are not tourist friendly, and general etiquette when no Japanese menus are available.

Long time subscriber and I feel like you have covered these before, but this is just what comes to mind.

  13. Hello 👋🏽 Does Hiroshima City / prefecture or the Chugoku region have a place similar to Akihabara or Nakano in terms of otaku culture/ anime & manga, etc.? Thank you!

  14. We are planning a trip to Japan and wonder if there are factory tours available to the public. Thank you for your content.

  15. Hey John,
Saw your ‘back of the clock’ video. Don’t have questions now. I am coming late next month (second time this year) due to ANA operating seasonal flights to Perth. Hopefully I can contribute feedback later. Take Care everyone!

  16. John, what are things the solo traveller should keep an eye on, when travelling in Japan, please? Thank you.

  17. It seems like the new clickbait for Japan is the title "Japan is changing!" or "Japan has CHANGED!!!" and so on. seems to be working theres now about 50 of these "what you must know about CHANGES IN JAPAN!!" every week now.
all of them the same rehashing the same 5 things: summer is now autumn, new money notes, yen is stronger, Suica is back as a card, long lines and crowds.

  18. Maybe one of these days you can tour some of the incredible depachikas (as only you can do in your own inimitable way!) in the various bigger department stores in Tokyo. Folks do not believe me when I tell them that EVERY department store in Japan from Daimaru in Tokyo to Hankyu in Osaka have a Harrod's food court size depachika that sell delicious souvenirs!

  19. I still think Akihabara is the place to go for otaku culture. But you have to see more than just the Chuo Dori.
Nakano Broadway is the place to go for otaku _shopping_, if you want to get all your shopping done in one place. But that's been the case for many years. At least as long as I've been visiting Japan.

  20. My family is planning to visit Tokyo in February. What would you recommend visiting for a family with a combination of teens and small children?
