00:01Exploring Unique Areas in Aomori and Hakodate

In this video, we take you on an exploration of some of the hidden gems and unique spots in Aomori and Hakodate, two of northern Japan’s most captivating cities. Both cities, though distinct in character, share a deep connection to Japan’s rich history, culture, and natural beauty.

Aomori is known for its scenic landscapes, including beautiful coastal views and lush mountains. It’s a city where tradition meets nature. We venture into less-traveled paths, uncovering unique alleyways and streets filled with local life, visiting small but vibrant markets, and experiencing the local cuisine that reflects the flavors of the sea and mountains. From charming local shops to the colorful Nebuta Matsuri floats that adorn some areas year-round, Aomori offers a distinctive blend of history and culture waiting to be discovered.

Hakodate is a port city that boasts a fascinating mix of Japanese and Western influences due to its history as one of the first Japanese ports opened to international trade in the 19th century. We explore the enchanting area around the Red Brick Warehouses, where old trading buildings now house trendy cafes, boutiques, and unique cultural spots. We also dive into the vibrant nightlife of Hakodate, from hidden bars to local izakayas, and capture the stunning views from Mount Hakodate, renowned for its night views that are considered among Japan’s best.

Join us as we wander through these unique areas of Aomori and Hakodate, uncovering stories and experiences that offer a deeper connection to Japan’s northern charm!

  1. I was at Misawa Air Base in the Wir Force. I LOVED Hachinohe and Hirosaki. My last trip back to Japan was in the Tokyo area, but I MISS Aomori-ken. Anything with the name TOWADA is great too! Towada City, and LAke Towada. There is a Shinto Jinja there near the lake that is ENCHANTING!
