【4K】Night Walk From MACHIDA 東京 町田 2024 August – Tokyo Street Nightlife – Japanese deep culture

Machida, Tokyo, is famous for being mocked by Machida City, Kanagawa Prefecture, and Tokyo residents.

It is also known for its close connection to Yokohama, which I have recently become fond of.

Machida was once a transit point for silk transport from Hachioji, where silkworm farming was popular, to Yokohama Port for export.

Both the Odakyu Line and the JR Line overlap, and it is a large city with a population of over 400,000.

I had never been near Machida Station before.

I’m sure that any Edokko would have heard the rumors that Machida, Hachioji, and Tachikawa are very dangerous areas.

However, it was still golden time, so it would still be relatively safe at this time.

I set up my camera with some trepidation and started walking around the station.

I wasn’t particularly expecting anything.

I just wanted to be free from the gloomy feelings and the heavy traffic on Route 16, and to erase the complaints from my delivery destinations from my mind.

When I walked around Machida for the first time, I was surprised at the number of people.

Compared to Omiya and Yokohama, the number of people walking around was overwhelmingly greater.

The level was also high!! As I walked around, I could see the town.
Many people were sitting on the ground in front of convenience stores and commercial facilities.
I decided to continue wandering to kill time.
Nakadani Shopping Street, which still had the appearance of a postwar black market, had many shuttered stores,
but the atmosphere of the Showa era was still there, and the town was lively.
In a huge commuter town like Machida,
compared to terminal stations like Shinjuku,
the proportion of locals is very high, and ordinary people tend to be less cautious.
Also, since residential and commercial areas coexist, I focused on wandering around places like benches in parks in residential areas off the shopping streets.
When walking around an unfamiliar town, your sense of smell is important.
From my experience, I would start by walking around the area around the station.
Then I would look around the areas around cabaret clubs and karaoke.
Just as the cars picking up students from cram school started to gather at the station,
I started looking around the parking lot, parks, and plazas with vending machines just to be sure, and my legs started to get tired.
After all, compared to Kabukicho, the countryside is still a good place.
I had just started thinking about heading to the big city of Shinjuku
Right near the station, I saw a figure in a vacant lot on the road..
