Climbing 398 Steps for Stunning Views of Mount Fuji

Arakurayama Sengen Park is a picturesque destination located in Fujiyoshida, Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan. Established in 1959, the park spans approximately 4.3 hectares on the slopes of Mount Arakura and is renowned for its stunning views of Mount Fuji, particularly from the iconic Chureito Pagoda, a five-story structure built as a memorial for war dead in 1963.

Scenic Beauty
The park is especially famous for its cherry blossoms, with over 650 Yoshino cherry trees that bloom spectacularly in spring, creating a breathtaking backdrop against the snow-capped Mount Fuji. This combination of natural beauty has made it a popular spot for photography and has earned it a place among the “100 Views with Mount Fuji” recognized by the Japanese Ministry of the Environment.

Visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of Fujiyoshida City and Mount Fuji from the observation deck, which is accessible via a steep staircase of 398 steps. This number is symbolically significant, as it corresponds to the name of the goddess associated with Mount Fuji, Princess Konohana-Sakuya.
