⁴ᴷ Nagano: Shibu Onsen (長野県: 渋温泉) – Japan Walking Tour (August, 2024)
I spent the weekend visiting Kusatsu Onsen in Gunma Prefecture and then traveled along the Asama-Shirane-Shiga Sawayaka Highway to Shibu Onsen. Shibu Onsen is famous for its nostalgic atmosphere and the historic Kokuya Hotel, which is known for resembling the bathhouse in Studio Ghibli’s “Spirited Away.” The well-preserved streets of the town evoke a sense of nostalgia, making it a delightful place to explore on foot.
