I’ve received many comments recently about the earthquakes happening in Japan. The main question on everyone’s mind seems to be: ‘Is it safe to travel to Japan now, or should I cancel my trip?’ In this video, I’ll share my insights based on objective data from around the world.
To give you some context, on August 8th, 2024, a magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck near Miyazaki in Kyushu, Japan. This event led the Japanese government to reiterate its warning that there is a 70% chance of a magnitude 8 or 9 earthquake—the so-called Nankai Trough megaquake—occurring within the next 30 years. It’s understandable why so many of you are worried and asking questions about the situation.
By watching this video, you should have a clearer idea of whether it’s wise to continue with your trip or if it’s better to hold off for now. My goal is to help you make an informed decision so you can enjoy your time in Japan as safely as possible. So be sure to watch until the end.

1 of the legends is oarfish sightings which are deep sea fish.
There is a possibility of an earthquake hitting anywhere in the world or some other unforeseen Natural Disaster, and when you are traveling, always plan for something to go a stray. Having extra food is always a good idea when travelling in foreign lands or even taking a car trip to another city. I believe that most modern buildings have been built to withstand earthquakes within a given magnate.
Nah, hasn't changed my plans. Honestly more concerned about being in a Boeing over the ocean for ~13hr, twice.

Natural disaster can happen anywhere anytime. This is Earth, not Heaven. You can't predict it, prevent it, or avoid it. If you let your fears get the best of you before anything even happened, then you are your own jail. Just go and enjoy your trips. Remember to always be respectful !!!

Outside of the main global earthquake areas are places where there are zero earthquakes or they are too small to notice. These are the people who panic. They did not get earthquake/tsunami drills as kids. They do not know what to do. Most countries with earthquakes have a safety/evacuation strategy and you can read what they are. I was reading the evacuation strategy for Yokohama and copying the maps showing the evacuation centres.
Use your Google-Fu and you can find this information. There may even be a booklet in English that you can get from the local Council or Tourist Information. Be proactive in your preparedness. Check your hotel's evacuation strategy. Be aware and know what to do. Don't be scared, be prepared! 👍
