Car Camping At Mount Fuji with Overland Japan 🇯🇵

Join me on an unforgettable adventure around Mt. Fuji and Lake Kawaguchiko, where we explore the iconic view of Mt. Fuji depicted on the 1,000 yen bill. Our journey begins in Tokyo with a delightful seafood breakfast at the Tsukiji Market, before picking up our iconic green Suzuki Jimny equipped with a rooftop tent from Overland Campers Japan.

Our first stop is Fujiyoshida, where we stay the night at an Airbnb offering breathtaking views of Mt. Fuji right from the window. The next morning, we savor a hearty brunch of hoto soda noodles at a local restaurant, then immerse ourselves in the vibrant Fuji Shiba-sakura Festival.

Our adventure continues as we head to Lake Motosu, where we set up camp at the Koan Camping Ground. This well-equipped campsite, nestled on the shores of Lake Motosu, offers clean shower facilities, toilets, and a reception that doubles as a hotel with camping supplies for sale—all at a reasonable 2,700 yen per night. Here, we experience the same stunning view of Mt. Fuji that’s famously depicted on the 1,000 yen note.

We also make a stop at Lake Shoji for a day camp before wrapping up our journey and driving back to Tokyo to return the car. This adventure combines the beauty of Japan’s natural landscapes with the thrill of rooftop camping in a rugged Suzuki Jimny.
